On other days, travel limitations apply between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Loads between 15 feet and 16 feet in width must travel from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM on school days to 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on other days. Routes between I-95 and the Myrtle Beach area are closed on Fridays and Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. No travel is allowed on major holidays or holiday weekends.

South Carolina  Signs, Lightning & Flags Information: Loads wider than 12 feet must be marked with “Oversize Load” signs in the front and back, as well as flags at each corner. For loads 12 to 14 feet wide, a rear-facing amber beacon or strobe light is necessary. When the load’s breadth is between 14 and 16 feet, each outside rear corner must have a revolving amber beacon or strobe light. Any rear overhang of 4 feet or more must have a red flag at the farthest rear point, and if traveling between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise, or in conditions necessitating windshield wipers due to poor weather or visibility under 500 feet, a rotating amber beacon or strobe light is required.

Miscellaneous: Farming equipment, including as tractors, forestry machinery, and road construction equipment, is free from permission requirements if the load does not exceed 12 feet in width, 13 feet 6 inches in height, or a total weight of 90,000 pounds. This exemption applies to daylight travel and is valid seven days a week.
